A brother recounts their time and accomplishments after four years in APO

By: Corey Everley
To be honest, it is hard to believe that the last 4 years have gone by so fast here at Penn State, but I know my time would not have been the same without APO. Not only are the majority of my friends in APO, the majority of my time that was not spent in class was with this organization. During my time in APO, I have been on 3 of the 4 committees (membership, marketing, and fellowship), held 5 positions (Historian, Assistant Pledge Guide, Pledge Guide, Membership Vice-President, and Inter-Chapter Relations Chair), attended Nationals and Tri-Sectionals, completed 4 of the 5 leads course, received Blue Award 5 times and Gold Award 2 times, and completed over 120 hours of community service. But perhaps one of the best things about APO is the flexibility, and the support of the people within it. When I first joined APO, I never thought I'd have time for anything else, but when sophomore year rolled around, I was amazed how encouraging the brothers of APO were when it came to being flexible when people have other activities. I know I am a busy person, but it is the encouragement from our brotherhood that allowed me to join NSLS, work in a Lab and study abroad. It encouraged me to keep working and I always knew I'd have somewhere to ask for help. I know my time at PSU would not have been the same without APO and I encourage any past, present or future brothers to take advantage of the opportunities APO can give them.
