Why We Joined
This page is called why we joined, but it really should be called why we stayed. As college students we are often attracted by good, but silly things like free pizza or cute boy/girl, however good friends and a deeper sense of purpose are why we really stay.
Friendship
"While service was the reason I joined APO, the friends I made were the reason I stayed. I made lifelong friends within my pledge class that I'm still close to today, and spent my years in APO with many wonderful people that made my college experience so much better. With Penn State being such a big school, it really helped us all to have a group of people to rely on and become close with in our brotherhood."
Service
"Doing service through APO has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I've seen the impact simple, small acts of service can have on people, whether it's been volunteering at homeless shelters or running large Scouting events. Being able to give back, big or small, is a profoundly gratifying and fulfilling experience that all of our brothers have been able to share."

APO has taught me not only what it means to be a leader, but how to be a great leader from real world, hands on experience. You do not even realize how much you have grown as a person until you step back and reflect, because you have that much doing it.
